Teachout Creek PMJM Habitat Enhancement

Blue Mesa restored over 11 acres of former cattle pasture to a rich habitat for the threatened Preble’s Meadow Jumping Mouse in Monument, CO. The project included removal of noxious weeds, native seeding with straw, applying soil amendments, and planting over 3,500 trees and shrubs to enliven the seasonal creek. A temporary irrigation system was installed to ensure plant and grass growth in the dry season. Teachout Creek is now home to a large ecosystem of insects, amphibians, rodents, coyotes, hawks and eagles.

Turf and Irrigation Reduction, Air Force Academy

Over 5.5 acres of turf was removed, replaced with native grasses and low water xeriscaping across the Air Force Academy. Over 1,400 plants and trees were installed in the previous sod areas, providing a low maintenance solution, in addition to the water savings.

Non-potable Reservoir #1, Air Force Academy

Completed nearly 6 acres of native seeding on the reconstruction on Non-Potable Reservoir #1 on the Air Force Academy.

Iron horse park, fort carson

Blue Mesa worked with other sub-contractors to add a new three acre addition to Iron Horse Park. Installed new plants and mulch, irrigation, soil amendments, and sod.

Creek Restoration, Air Force Academy

Completing restoration of the Middle Creek, Monument Branch Creek and Elkhorn Creek on the Air Force Academy, Blue Mesa installed over 1 million SF of erosion net and 640,000 SF of hydromulch, and planted over 63,000 willow stakes and 22,000 grass plugs.

 

Hot Water Line, Air Force Academy

Working with Medvoldt, LLC, Blue Mesa Landscaping seeded and installed erosion net behind the new hot water line on the Air Force Academy.

Over the years, Blue Mesa has completed many residential landscapes across Colorado Springs.
